Nicola Easterby of Polkadot Passport invites you to India on a 10 Day Yoga and Outdoor adventure exploring the country's culture, yoga and Ayurvedic traditions, gorgeous hiking trails, small villages in the countryside and learning about non-profit initiatives and sustainability projects. The trip is designed to share the beauty and culture that Nicola fell in love with in India and allows you to experience the country like a local, be fully immersed in its culture and make a positive impact by leaving a low carbon footprint, engaging in responsible tourism activities, and supporting the work of incredible organizations along the way. What's on the Itinerary?

DAY 1 | THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

Our team will pick you up at New Delhi Airport. After some rest and relaxation, we will have a welcome dinner, get to know the amazing people that will be on this journey with you and explore the neighborhood for those who aren't incredibly jet-lagged. 
 

 

DAY 2 | OLD BAZAARS AND COOKING CLASSES

We’ll start the trip off with exploring New Delhi’s outdoor bazaars and narrow alleyways in the Old City. Winding our way around the narrow streets, we’ll explore an area of India where time seems to have stood still. We’ll visit one of the city’s most ancient shrines and partake in an Ayurvedic cooking class, learning how to mix medicinal herbs and spices for a healthy meal.

DAY 3 | CLASSICAL INDIAN DANCE CLASS + ANCIENT TEMPLES

No visit to India is complete without delving into India’s rich art and heritage. Today we’ll try an Indian classical dance class and learn about the different styles of dance that have been passed down for generations. During lunch, we’ll go on a street food tour, tasting the many flavors of regional Indian cuisine. In the evening, we’ll see a spectacular Indian temple during sunset that is both majestic and iconic.

 

DAY 4 | ROAD TRIP TO THE HILLS

Having gotten a taste of the colorful city life, we’ll pack our bags and head North toward the Himalayan mountains. We’ll be retreating to an ashram filled with yoga, meditation and gorgeous views of the sacred Ganges river. Upon arrival, we’ll watch a sunset over the water and dig into delicious vegan food and fresh juice.

DAY 5 | YOGA LIFE

This leg of our adventure has us going deeper into yoga, meditation and the outdoors. Starting the day around 5:30 AM, we’ll wake up for morning meditation followed by a yoga class. After a healthy breakfast, we’ll walk around the crystal clear waters of the Ganges river hopping into cafes overlooking the hills for smoothies and chai.

DAY 6 | HIKING THE MOUNTAINS AND BEATLES ASHRAM

Get your hiking shoes ready because after our morning yoga class, we’ll go on a hike the hills and small mountains, stopping at small villages with breathtaking views of nature. After a scenic lunch, we’ll visit the infamous abandoned Beatles Ashram where the band studied spirituality. After sunset, we’ll make our way to one of the hippy cafes for a late night filled with dessert and wine.

DAY 7 | KAYAKING AND THE OUTDOORS

The crystal clear waters of the region are best experienced by kayaking. After our morning yoga and breakfast, we’ll make our way to the tip of the Ganges river where we’ll rent canoes and kayak across the river through pristine waters and untouched landscapes. To mark the completion of our retreat, we’ll go to the local markets this evening for souvenirs, yoga accessories and any Indian clothes that catch our eyes.

 

DAY 8 | HOLY CITIES AND RETURN TO DELHI

Checking out of the ashram, we’ll drive down one hour to a holy city filled with Indian sadhus and religious ceremonies. Here we’ll see all kinds of oddities and spiritual devotees doing prayers and having given up the traditional path in life. We’ll slowly walk through the streets observing all kinds of life in this holy city and make our way back to New Delhi at night.

 DAY 9 | TAJ MAHAL AND NON-PROFITS

As we near the end of our trip, we’ll spend our last full day going to the city of Agra and visiting the splendid Taj Mahal. We’ll also visit the buildings surrounding the Taj Mahal to get a full understanding of that era in Indian history. We’ll visit an incredible non-profit for lunch that is working toward ending acid attacks on vulnerable women and providing them with skill development and livelihood.

 

DAY 10 | GOODBYE LUNCH AND LAST MINUTE SHOPPING

Saving the best for last, we will have time to go last minute shopping and get optional Indian Ayurvedic massages. After a hearty goodbye lunch we'll leave for the airport with many memories and new friends.
