What's on the Itinerary?

DAY 1 | THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

Our team will pick you up at Bangalore International Airport (BLR). After some rest and relaxation, we will feast on a welcome dinner and get to know the amazing people that will be on this journey with you. Tonight we walk through the colorful and chaotic streets of Bangalore while learning more about the others on the tour.

DAY 2 | THE YOGA OF SOUND & SATTVIC COOKING CLASS

After breakfast and a morning orientation, we will participate in a a sound healing session with instruments made by hand from a rural area of India called Auroville. We will follow the session up with a culinary demo about what a whole-foods, Sattvic meal means to Indians and feast on a scrumptious vegan lunch. In the evening we will meander through one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city full of flower markets and street vendors. Dinner will be at one of the city’s restaurants advocating for a push back to native and indigenous ways of eating.

DAY 3 | ANIMAL RESCUE & REHAB + A TRADITIONAL MEAL ON BANANA LEAVES

After breakfast on the patio, we will visit an animal rehabilitation non-profit called People for Animals to learn about animal rescue, rehabilitation and re-wilding urban cities. We'll speak with the doctors to understand the challenges and opportunities of animal rehabilitation and creating ecosystem balance. After some free time, in the evening we will have a Kerala-style vegan dinner on banana leaves, a local tradition of eating food sustainably.

DAY 4 | FREE MORNING AND ECO-ACTIVIST DOCUMENTARY (VANDANA SHIVA)

Today you have a free morning to relax, get a massage or visit Bangalore Palace, or explore the neighborhood or hop into a coffee shop. Later in the afternoon, we will be screening a documentary on the life of Vandana Shiva, a modern-day revolutionary, an Earth warrior who fights on behalf of ecologically besieged natural systems that support us. We’ll have vegan chai and samosas and a thoughtful discussion afterwards. The documentary will set the pace for our journey into the heart of rural India for the rest of the day.

Vandana Shiva is one of of the most important female activists of our timey. Her documentary showcases the problems and solutions around degenerative agricultural practices, who controls the world’s food systems and reimagining our relationship to the planet.

DAY 5 | A ROAD TRIP AND LIVING IN A VILLAGE

Today we embark on a road trip to the lush countryside of Southern India to the state of Tamil Nadu-home to India’s diverse farms, indigenous tribes and abundant coconut trees. After a drive through the southern countryside, we will arrive at our farm stay and be welcomed by fresh coconut water picked right from the tree. This evening we will settle into the farm, where all we hear are birds, the wind and a simple way of living. Dinner will be fresh farm to table, vegan Ayurvedic food where even the rice is grown on site.

DAY 6 | YOGA AND A VILLAGE WALK

After optional yoga and a relaxed breakfast, we will get to know the land, the village and the farmer’s lifestyle a bit more. Let’s go on a village walk to learn more about the local way of life from food and how the community runs. After a farm to table lunch, we will go into town to learn about the indigenous non-dual beliefs in the town from the local ashram to the sacred Arunachala Hill. We will meet for dinner and soak in the sounds of nature while drinking fresh juice.

DAY 7 | A MORNING HIKE + VILLAGE COOKING METHODS

After optional yoga and breakfast, join us for a beautiful morning hike on one of our favorite hidden local hills with beautiful views. Lunch will be in an organic restaurant in town. In the afternoon, we’ll come back to the farm to learn village cooking techniques, using heritage grains, and Ayurvedic eating principles. We’ll grind our own spices and learn how to incorporate Southern Indian flavors into the meal. The evening is free to relax by the pool or get a massage.

DAY 8 | VISIT TO AUROVILLE + VEGAN COMMUNITIES

Today we’ll go on a little day trip to an experimental community called Auroville near the coast of India. We’ll visit an all vegan farm that commits to zero-waste principles and a goal of reforestation. We’ll learn more about their community-based programming as well as their protective initiatives for animals. After lunch, we’ll visit the downtown area of Pondicherry, filled with beautiful architecture and cute vegan cafes where we can have Indian “cold coffee”. In the evening, we’ll make our way back to the farm and have an early night in.

DAY 9 | FRIENDSHIP AND A GOODBYE DINNER

On our last full day together, we start the morning with reflections on what we learned from living in connection to the land, which traditions around veganism, cooking, farming and community we can take back home and what kind of impact we think this can have in the world. We’ll drive back to Bangalore and get settled back into the hotel. For our goodbye dinner, we have a scrumptious vegan feast as we reflect on the adventure and make plans to meet each other around the world again.

DAY 10 | GOODBYE BRUNCH & AIRPORT DROP OFFS

After breakfast, we will begin airport drop offs starting at 2 AM and onwards. For those with late night flights, you have the option of exploring museums or the botanical gardens during the day. Today we leave for the airport with new memories and new friends.

HOTELS FOR OUR VEGAN TOUR

We stay at a 4 star hotel in Bangalore (Vivanta by Taj) that is in the heart of the city for the first 4 days. For the remaining portion of the trip, we move to a family-owned farm house in the countryside of Tamil Nadu (Yogiville). This tour and the accommodations chosen are designed for travelers who will be OK to stay on a farm with more simple amenities for a portion of the trip.
